Individual Art Therapy
Emotions are complicated and challenging for many people to identify, label and effectively express. Words offer a glimpse into an emotional experience but sometimes can create a fortress, guarding others from seeing that which is most vulnerable. Art offers a backdoor into the inner workings of one’s unconscious. Art therapy can be a non-threatening way to connect and begin to approach this internal world. Through the therapeutic process, people are encouraged to grow the metaphoric roots of trust, self-awareness, strategies for coping with and expressing overwhelming emotions. These roots spread, creating stability and the foundations for self-esteem and self-expression.
